Sculpture Tour

Suggested Sculpture Tour
Begin in Southwest Harbor where "The Sisters" stand guard over the library. Next, travel to downtown Ellsworth to see "I Want to Ride a Cloud," which resides on the sidewalk in front of a row of shops. Created by a Japanese artist, the sculpture evokes roadside shrines common in Japan. Appropriately, visitors have left gifts. From Ellsworth travel north on US 1 to the Sullivan town green (just over the bridge) to see "Sullivan Tower."

Continue north on US 1 and then turn down Route 186 to see the Winter Harbor sculpture, "Cleat," which sits dramatically in the bay and is best seen at high tide. About five miles from Winter Harbor is the Schoodic Peninsula Scenic Loop (part of Acadia National Park). From the Loop road, turn into the SERC campus and follow signs to the John H. Moore Auditorium to see "Tribute to Life." Head back to US 1 and travel north to Steuben where "A Glimpse of the Moon" is showcased on the lawn of its town library. Your tour will end at Milbridge where their sculpture "Transitory" graces the banks of the Narraguagus River.
